“What is needed today is a church which knows how to respond to the expectations of young people. Jesus wants to enter into dialogue with them and, through his body, which is the church, to propose the possibility of a choice, which will require a commitment of their lives. As Jesus with the disciples of Emmaus, so the church must become the traveling companion of young people...” (Pope John Paul II, World Youth Day 1995, Philippines)
In 1997 the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) released the document "Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry". In this document, the bishops set forth 3 goals (listed below) that youth ministry should meet. We at St. James strive to meet these goals by providing a dynamic youth ministry program that reaches out to teens where they are at, and journeys with them to Christ.
We are proud to be part of the Life Teen family, that provides us with the resources and support to help achieve our goals. We utilize the tools of this age to be able to meet teens where they are at. Most importantly, youth ministry at St. James is Christ-centered.
Everything we do is by God's grace and for His glory.
We offer youth ministry for middle school (Edge) and high school (Life Teen) teens. We are always looking for those wanting to work with young people, volunteer opportunities are available. If you are interested in becoming part of our youth ministry please feel free to contact Joey Gutierrez.
